and it was not as bad as some made it to be. First off I had no pain at all as he was pulling my teeth. I opted out of being sedated, just got lots of shots in the gums and some nitro.
And even after he pulled my teeth, other then the big amounts of blood there was after. But as days went by I still had zero pain, some swelling which I still have some, but I didnt have to take any pain meds. It could of been that because Im on so many pills now I wouldnt of felt pain, but I didnt through it all.

Now Im on day 2 with the dentures, got perfect looking teeth for the first time in my life. There is little pain when I put them in and the seal, but it lasts maybe half a minute and Im used to it.

What sucked the worst was the foods I could eat without my teeth. Soup, rice, and mac n cheese if I blended it. Now that I got the teeth the big thing is learning how to eat all over again. Since there is no root to the fake teeth it makes it kinda hard to eat and figure out if I have chewed my food long enough. Cant chew on ice, or anything hard for my gums are still sore and swollen. Doc said it can take upto 6 month before they heal all the way. So I am on a soft diet for the moment I get more used to them and take smaller bites.

Would I reverse what has been done if I got the chance? No, my teeth were cracked, out of place and chip on my front teeth when I planted face first on the playground back when I was around 5 years old, so I was looking at a HUGE bill if I was to get them fixed instead of dentures. If it was not for the care credit credit card I wouldnt been able to afford this, so I am happy I was approved for it.

Have not gotten the bottoms done, waiting on getting this first payment paid off first, $3K mostly due to how many teeth they had to pull at $120 a pop. I had stacked up more money in teeth being pulled then I did for the cost of the dentures them self. And lucky for me they are such a tight fit that I need no glue or paste to keep them in place. They snap right in.

Anyway just thought I would post my experience I have had going this route incase maybe some of you have been putting it off and are afraid of doing it. You got about 3 weeks of hell and its just the food hell having to swallow whole food, or lots of soup and mashed taters. OH and having the shits or a few days :O.

Would I do it again? Yes. I have my bottoms that need to get done next. Just this time I know what Im in for and for how long so it may not be as bad 2nd time around.

Man, I can't imagine needing dentures at your age.

<--Glad I take good care of my teeth.

There are probably other reasons people have to have their teeth pulled other than not taking care of them.

Glad it went well for you , OP. My wife's friend is going through this and I'll pass this along to reassure her.

Regardless of what public perception says, genetics plays a much greater role in keeping your teeth than good personal habits.

True, I had my upper at 44, dentist told me I would be looking at 13K for a proper fix up but was honest and told me my enamel layer is thin all around and that I "might" get 5 years of usable service after all was done so I said fuck it, pull 'em. I'm half Scot so there is the genetics, go to that part of the world and crappy teeth are common (I'm told). Mine fit well and are no problem, I eat everything without issue (except Carmel apples, that's trouble)..

I agree. I do everything I should with my teeth. I brush at least twice daily, I floss daily, I rinse with fluoride regularly (not daily though) and just about every time I go to the dentist, I have a cavity. I don't drink heavily sugared liquids or do anything they always nag at me about and still I get cavities.

Ignorance.

My mother had to have a root canal done, and they did it wrong. Now she may have to get dentures.

Calm down testicles. Caring for your teeth and gums goes a long way toward ensuring you have teeth for a good long time.

I know a 20 year old who's teeth have been cracking for a few years, and he's almost ready for dentures. Not a meth user either.

$3k isn't bad for a lot of teeth pulls. I still have the regular choppers but hear fitting is the most difficult part, and some people get taken to the cleaners by a practitioner who's dentures never fit right. The bit often takes many visits to correct as well. If these work well, take very good care of them.

It can be, I had to have 2 bones ground down so my plate would sit flat, it sucked, he had to stop numerous times for more Novocain, the general was $200 extra but I didn't want to spend it, bad decision..

I'm probably gonna need that one of these days. I kind of got screwed in that my parents never taught me to brush my teeth as a kid, so I didn't brush them at all until I was 20 years old. Now I have as much metal showing as I have tooth showing, so oh well lifes a bitch.
