Just got CPU & hsf, quick question about installation

I know the arctic/faq docs indicate a thin line of grease horizontally across the quad-core...but I believe the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 already comes with grease applied to it....

Does that mean I don't need to add ANYTHING to either the HSF OR the Q9550? I just simply make sure everything is lint-free and if it is, just put install the HSF onto the Q9550 with nothing else added and I'm good to go (after the 1-2 degree clock & counterclock twist that Arctic recommends)?

Thanks

If comes with it already on, you do not need to add any. Make sure the CPU heatspreader is clean when you install.

Tnx. And if it's not clean, just some 90% rubbing alcohol on the tip of a vinyl glove to clean it?

Yah it's what I use (bought it from my local pharmacy for like $1.88, but I use a piece of paper towel to clean-- really after cleaning just make sure you dont see any residue period. Actually I just got a new Q9550 and I am using my older Tunic Tower and I did not apply the line across but rather spread it out evenly. I just can't wrap my head around the line across. I have gotten so good over the years at applying a perfect coating on all my CPU's, I deserve it to keep going with that method :). Let us know how that Freezer Pro does for you with its stock grease pad... would like to know how it compared to my TRUE and tunic.

Yeah, I didn't know the Freezer 7 Pro came with goop on it... seems like if it's a single line, it will have problems getting complete coverage.

the freezer 7 comes with a whole layer of. . .mx-1 paste on it, it's not a single line of it
so just make sure you've got the chip clean before putting it on, and you're good =)
