Just got back from Vegas

We left at 7am Saturday morning on a bus owned by a co-worker's husband. Mostly people from work went. $63 a person for bus fare and hotel room (Fairfield Inn... I hate not staying in a casino. 🙁)

Drank too much on the bus heading out (!). Got there at 11am and had one girl already puking. Wow.

Crashed for an hour or so then headed to the strip. Ate steak and lobster at Bourbon Street for $7.77. Great deal, food was good. Avoid the drawn "butter" they give you for the lobster though. Tasted like vegetable oil with some yellow food coloring. Bleh. Otherwise good.

Started walking around. Dropped a couple of dollars in various nickel slots along the way. Saw an empty roulette table at O'Shea's and parked my butt. $20 in chips ($1 chips, $5 minimum) and started playing. 15 minutes later I cashed out with $110. 😀

Walked some more, did more nickel slots, etc. Ended up at the Venetian to meet some friends, dropped $20 in quarter slots. No signifigant wins.

At midnight we started heading back. Harrah's has "Speed Roulette" now and played there for 30 minutes or so. Started with $20, cashed out with $19. I don't like "Speed Roulette". Doesn't feel the same. Wife's feet hurt so we parked at the Keno room. Between the two of us, we ended up $90 up.

Took a cab back to the hotel ($10) and crashed for four hours. The bus was leaving at 11am and we were up and ready at 8am so walked up Paradise to Terrible's. Putzed around with the nickel and penny slots. I had 3 quarters in my pocket so found a quarter slot and sat down. Apparently the lady next to me was playing 3 machines, and got huffy when I sat at one of "her" machines. Tough cookies. Dropped 2 quarters in, hit the spin button, won $241. 😀 Lady next to me was PISSED! LoL!!! Cashed out.

Walked back to the hotel, stopping at Starbucks for a Chai Creme. Got on the bus, headed home. Stopped at the in-law's for dinner and to pick up the kids.

All told we're like $80 ahead if you count the room and food and miscellaneous crap (souvenir for my son, etc).

Had a good time, and I want to thank the folks who bought my goodies on the FS/FT forum and helped fund my trip. Thanks!

😀

Short Version
Quick turnaround trip to Vegas, ahead $80, had a great time.

i just got back from vegas too
sunday to thursday
won a grand on a .25 video poker machine, got a royal flush at the palms.
left with 400 bucks in my wallet.
i won the money too early in my trip, but it was fun.

I don't understand the fascination w/gambling, especially when it turns out like this.

You rode a BUS for hours on end, to get drunk, to spend money, to not get any (real) sleep. To eat crappy food, to gamble, to win, to lose....and come out $80 ahead when you could've just stayed home?

😕

I would ride the bus cross country and back, puking the whole way for $1,000, guaranteed money...but what you did...I don't get it.

Hmmmm... drinking... gambling... eating...
OR
staying at home...

Let's see here...
VEGAS BABY!

Heh you should tell that lady with the slots that slots are totally random. Unless she pushed the button at the same moment you pushed it, she would have a different outcome.

You don't get out much do ya?

My family's going out to Vegas next weekend to meet with some ungodly number of relatives (or at least for our family it is)...and I'd be able to hit the strip with my cousin. But noooooooo, my jackass boss has to keep the store open on Saturday.

Who in their freakin' right mind would keep a high-end A/V store open on the day before July 4th? "Oh honey, while we have a day off, let's go buy a new stereo system...I have a few days off, so we can spend it connecting cables!" Most people are out of town anyway!

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. I didn't like vegas too much before either. Then I turned 21. 😀
Now, I'd rather waste 500 (*assuming I wouldn't mind wasting it*) in Vegas then get a new video card like a lotta these people are buying.

*edit*: BTW, good job Duroc! I've always wanted to put a quarter in one of "someone else's 5 or so machines" , but those old people can get loud and mean sometimes...

I spent time with my wife away from the kids. I spent time with fun people and partied. (No details... Use your imagination...😛) Gambling is fun as long as you're not going crazy about it. The people that blow their life savings scare me. I never dropped more than $20 on any one thing. So it was fun. If I was betting $1000 a hand at poker, I'd be too stressed to enjoy it. LoL

Vegas can be one big party if you approach it that way. So, yeah. I loved every minute, even when my butt started hurting from being on the bus for 4 hours... 😉

Cool man, sounded like fun!

I've never been, but should be planning a trip soon. Same goal, time with the wife, away from the kids.

Oh and, people started drinking at 7 am? No wonder that chick was puking. 😕
