Heya mods.

I was just unbanned today, and I'm curious about something...

I only received a PM from the mod who banned me, pointing to thread that earned me the vacation.

He/she did not say for how long, nor did anyone answer my two emails. I really thought that they were well written and respectful, too.

It's just confusing, to be banned and have no-one communicate with me as to the specifics of the ban, or even a response back saying "nope, we're not appealing it, please wait XXX amount of days."

I don't know, perhaps my being un-banned today was the response to my messages...?

Thanks, anyways.

We did have some communication problems during the upgrade. But I will tell you and everyone reading this topic how to avoid the problem in the future. Don't get yourself banned.

As far as I can tell, there have been plenty of people who were never told exactly why they were banned, or for how long, way before this upgrade. In addition to this, I hear of many bans which people say haven't been lifted after the specified about of time.

I would say that you're much in need of a system that manages the bans automatically. Say a form where you input a name, a duration and a reason. After that duration has finished, the user is unbanned and notified.

Also, you should allow all users access to this tool. Then we could play "king of the forums" to see if you could ban everyone else before you yourself got banned! ;)
