good decision. hopefully its the wake-up call that guy needs to make sure he isn't that lit before he gets behind the wheel again. luckily for him and everyone else involved nobody was injured/killed.

Apparently the Ohio State Troopers don't care about drunk drivers as much as they say they do...

My cousin and I were driving up this long country road a year or two ago. It's fairly hilly and curvy. Drunks are known to take that road because it's typically low traffic after 10pm. So Tom and I are driving up the road... there's a pickup truck towing a trailer ahead of us... it's a company truck for some lawn mowing service. I don't know if the driver was drunk or what. We had a CB in the truck, turned to emergency (9)... nobody would respond. Scanned up to 19 and found that there were truckers talking, but nobody offered any help in contacting the police. Tried calling the highway patrol office... Tom happened to have their number memorized (he was a cop in training, and knew a lot of patrolmen). Called them... I told the dispatcher that I was following a drunk driver up this road, at X mile marker, etc... and she hung up on me. We followed the truck into town... and it happened to stop at a building that was within eyesight of the state highway patrol building. They didn't dispatch anyone until Tom recognized one of the guys and asked him to go take a look.

when u call the cops do u dial 911? or do u dial the number to the police station? (which i dont have memorized)

cuz i figured 911 is for emergencies, and dialing from the cell will hook you up to CHP (in california at least)

Heh, this reminds me of the time I was driving behind this drunk. He was swerving whenever the median broke and finally stopped at a stop light. He proceeded to get out of the car in the middle of the road and take a nice long piss. The hilarious part about it was the fact that there was a cop in the gas station on the corner. He didn't see a thing. The guy got in his car after sitting through 2 lights and drove off. I have no idea if he ever made it home.

Why is everyone offering this man 's as a thank you??? You'd think if you just nailed someone for DWI you would be drinking soda for a few hours at least.

i think a drunk just about to drive through the center of a busy town on a firday night is everyone's business
I think this person did a great job. Getting a drunk off the road is admirable. :)

drunk guy driving around. crosses the center lane into an oncomming vehicle. there is a wreck, and you are involved in the wreck becasue of the drunk driver...you get seriously injured

call the cops 100% of the time.

damn! NOONE on ATOT will say MYOB!!!

Don't you get it? I have never ever read anything on this forum about drunk drivers that doesn't say that they should be shot, castrated, run over, eaten alive by elfs, torn into little peices by Tobor the Magnificient, or raped by your pet bulldog.

So comeone, someone posted "oo, now people will say MYOB" and now everybody is screaming at that hypothetical someone who DOESN'T FVCKING EXIST!!

Anyway, that point aside I give you congrats on your heroism in calling the police. Good job, and I hope that there are many more people like you on the road.

And to the rest of ATOT: Just because someone says that some people think drunk driving is a private matter on these forums doesn't make it true. From my experience EVERYBODY here is pretty fanatically anti-drunk driving, and this is one of the reasons I like these boards, but even though all of you get how dangerous driving drunk is, it seems most of you could stand to be a little more critical of what you read here.
