I must say, $5.50 well spent! This movie is all around great entertainment, comedy, action, and funk. If you like "goofy" comedy, by all means go see Evolution!
I give it an A+

They said that in the commercial too. Something like Ghostbusters for the 21st century.

I thought it was from the producer of Ghostbusters.

Yep. Ivan Reitman was the director/producer who helmed "Ghostbusters," "Stripes," and -- my candidate for funniest lowbrow comedy of all time -- "Animal House."

<Edit-- oops, John Landis directed "Animal House," Reitman produced it. Damned funny movie anyway.>

I saw it earlier this week... and I concur.. this was a great fun movie... it dodges all the pretentiousness of hollywood, and just has a good time.

I do have one criticism... and it's a stretch criticism... there was only one black person in the movie and he was the Will Smith goofy black guy type... I'm getting a little tired of that stereotype.

Stupid but had alot of funny jokes. Especially liked Orlando Jones asking for ice cream. Wifey liked it more than me. Caught matinee for $7.00 for the two of us. Would have to think twice if it were full price. I would highly recommend to friends when its on video though.:D

I thought Evolution was just middle of the line. It wasn't bad, yet it was far from great. As many of pointed out previously, the script/plot was WAY too much like Ghostbusters, except it wasn't nearly as funny. Orlando Jones was, believe it or not, too serious for my liking. The fat guys were stupidly unfunny. Chris Farley can never replaced by anybody, let alone by two people.

There were some high points in the movie, however, that might draw some of you in. Some of the FX were VERY impressive. There was one point where I really thought I was seeing a live action creature, when it actually was CGI. I thought Duchovney did some fun work, including -- yes -- the mooning scene. The shameless head and shoulders bit at the very end was great, too.

Go see Shrek before you see Evolution, but see Evolution before Tomb Raider, The Mummy Returns, or Pearl Harbor.
