It's a B-movie, it's supposed to be retarded. At least it doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is. It's gotten surprisingly good reviews.

The one that made me wince was when two men were pulling a girl out of the water and she fell apart into two pieces....split down the middle of her tummy...

It looked pretty damn real...flashbacks of Saving Private Ryan kind of gore.

I thought the same thing, but I've heard its actually a pretty well done B movie (it didn't come off that way to me in the previews), so who knows. At least, unlike the Godfather, it doesn't insist upon itself.
