Just Got Back from Infineon Raceway

I think this is the sixth time I've gone. I am Gordon fan, and today was surrounded by #8 fans. Took a heckling for around four hours. SILENCE for the last ten laps. Whooohooo! Go #24!

I know, this is ATOT... if it's not F1 or WRC no one cars.

What a great day.

I'am a Gordon fan too Robby Gordon so my day wasn't that great. Was really hoping Terry Labonte would pull it off there at the end. The way the #8 ran they shouldn't have been able to do too much heckling.

For some reason i'm not really into Nascar; however, Indy cars are somewhat fun to watch. 🙂
I have yet to see a full F1 race and haven't see a real live WRC race. All I see is those post WRC shows. :/
But then it saves me a lot of time by not watching them.

I went to sleep after that post or else I would have responded to this. A few hours before the race, we decided to set up our seats in the middle of the esses. While waiting for the race start, I hear some people yelling. I turned around to see Robby Gordon in a golf cart about three feet behind me. I didnt have anything for him to sign, so I went with just a hand shake. 😀

How exactly do you stay awake during the whole thing? The whole driving 'round in circles has to be a down south thing.

On a different note though, I was under the impression that nascars are built so the center of mass of offset to the drivers side (not in the center). Whats the point of taking 'me on a road course then?

I gathered as much when the o/p said they set up chairs in the esses

Yeah man, left and right turns😉

Good race, I always work a little nap in during it🙂 I'm a gordon hater but I had him picked for my fantasy league so I was happy.

People who have not been to a live Nascar event should go. It is a weekend event (practice, qualifying,, and the actual race.) At night its basically a huge party. On race day you could walk around to the vendors, check out some ladies, lots of food, and people are pretty friendly. Let me tell you..it is a total different experience watching it live. Yes they do take 40k left turns and only 3k right turns in nascar in one year but the roar of those engines, the power and the speed makes the ground tremble. IIt's awesome.

how many non-white people attend these things. I'm not being a smart ass, just curious cause I do have soem friends into nascar and I might go with them sometime but on TV, i just see bleechers full of white people.

Infineon is in CA so it's going to be different. Mostly white people, with a hand full of Mexicans. There are a few black and Asian people.

The drinking starts in the early morning, so be prepared for dumb people made dumber.

The same way I stay away at work: By keeping my eyes open. No one sleeps at a race where the cars on the other side of the track sound like a jet getting ready to take off.

Heh heh...

The only thing Dale Jr. does well at Sonoma is catch on fire. We'll see if Jeffy makes the Chase this year. Bigtime points weekend coming up at Daytona. DEI and Hendricks run good there.

I'm asian and I go. I have a great time and nobody in CA nobody cares what race you are. However, they do care who you root for. The drinking does start in the morning and just continues for 3 days. Just be alert when you are watching a race in the south because people LOVE #8 team and HATE the #24 team. Make sure you do not bash them at all.....they are harass you worse than Raider fans because there are 10x more of them attending the event and they wil gang up on you.

I have been to Talladega and I did not have any racial issues but let me you this...its a sea of people wearing #8 red. When people ask who you think will win the race...do not mention #24 and instead say that the DEI will have a good run or you are rooting for Martin, Jarett, or the Labonte Bros (they are respected veterans).
