...if you are interested, please feel free to look at them here:

hawaii pictures

There are a couple hundred that I have tried to organize here. If you are on a modem it will be especially painful since the pictures are all pretty large (1152x864.)

My upload bandwidth is 250Kbs so it should be bearable if you are on cable/dsl or better.

For anybody who takes the time to browse around: can you please comment if you have any technical problems with the links? I would love to get rid of any bugs. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy!

If you are having problems seeing some of the thumbnails, its probably because there are too many other users connected, and my machine isnt such a keen server. If there are only a couple people looking at a time it should work ok.

<< what digital camera did you use? >>

<< what camera have you got?? >>

They were all taken with my Kodak DC215. I bought a 128MB compact flash card before I left, and filled up about 410 out of the 450 pictures it holds at best resolution.

<< nice pics! >>

Thanks bacillus!

Nice pictures! I've never been to Hawaii but might visit later this year or next year, what's usually the best time of year in terms of price, weather and less touristy? Or am I asking for the impossible?

<< 403.9 Access Forbidden: Too many users are connected >>

Yeah, I'm sorry about that one. If you look again in a few minutes when the thread falls lower on the page, this probably wont happen. I dont think I can fix this in Windows Personal Web Server. If anyone knows how, feel free to tell me.

I think I will sleep now, but if anyone has any questions or comments I will reply to them all when I wake up.

Its almost identical to compact flash. Except slightly more expensive. Maybe its slightly better too? (I dunno! :))

Nice. What island did you stay at? My wife and I go there every year for our anniversary and usually go to Oahu, Maui, and Kauia (however you spell that). I like going in the fall/winter which is less tourisy and also that's when the surf is good 10-20ft. I'll post some pics later of Pipeline when I was there last fall. If you're into watching surfing too, the best time is fall/winter since that's when they pick up most of the north swells.

Best time of year for

price: early summer or late summer, but not so much the middle of summer (I dont know exactly why)

weather: its always good, but summer is the rainier season. In the winter the ocean temperature is about 78 degrees F, where as the summer is about 82 degrees F, so if you plan to do a lot of water activities summer is better. Except if you surf, the waves are much better in the winter.

less tourists: the fewest tourists are there at the cheaper times (basically the summer)

I dont think you are asking the impossible though. We found $900 for roundtrip airfair & 7 nights double-occupancy hotel. That means just $450 per person! Unfortunately we had to leave just one day later than this deal allowed for, so we paid $1250 instead of $900. Still not bad. Suntrips has some really cheap packages if you dont mind 2 star hotels...

So you only paid $450 per person ($900 grand total) for roundtrip air/7 days hotel? Wow. Where were you flying from?

Thanks for the tips.

Thanks, muffstah!

We stayed on Oahu at Waikiki. But we also saw a bit of Maui, and a lot of the Big Island (which I love.)

I am dying to return so I can visit Kaua'i. I think it is perhaps the most beautiful island of them all, judging by the pictures I have seen. I want to take a cruise around it, and then rent a car and drive to all the most scenic places there.

We missed the $450 per person by just one day! :( Instead we had to pay the $1250 total which I still thought was ok. We flew out of LAX. I think SF & LA prices tend to be the best, and the further you get from the west coast, the higher the prices rise.

Wow, I live in Hawaii and you didn't come to visit me?!?! :Q

Oh well, I would look at the pics, but being stuck on dial-up isn't the best to view large files. :(

Hope you had fun here. :)

It's a fairly close competitor to CF, but lately SmartMedia demand has been going down because it has pretty much reached it's limit. Most people are aiming for CF compatible devices (actually I just read that a 512MB CF card has been developed).

Nice pictures Jothaxe! :)

So, Jothaxe, did you wear shorts at any point during your trip? I wouldn't dream of wearing pants while in paradise! ;)

you do realize that people are connecting and looking because they hope to see almost nude shots of your girlfriend naked.

I'm going there next.
