Just got back from Columbia University

I just came back a few hours ago from Columbia University to take the test to see if I qualify for their SHP (Science Honors Program). I wanted to post this for a few reasons. #1) I wanted to see if anyone else in the NY, northern NJ area took the test also, #2) If anyone else took it, what did you think of it?

I personally thought that most of the Math part (first booklet given) was pretty easy, with a few difficult questions. I thought that the Science section's (Second and third packets) were really easy. And I thought the Challenge packet (last packet) was pretty difficult, with a few easy questions.

Also, if you took it, what school/area are you from? I am from Oceanside High School in Long Island.

What is the test? Obviously it is something about science + honors for high school kids but what do you get if you do well on the test? I am always curious about science programs for youth for some odd reason. 😛

Also, assuming Oceanside high school is in Oceanside, my parents live real close to you: in Merrick, South of Merrick Road.

Yeah, the test is on Science and Math. What we get out of it is the opportunity to take college level courses in one of these areas: Molecular and Cellular Biology, Principles of Immunology, Psychology of Memory, Organic Chemistry, Computer Programming in Java, Chaos and Fractals, Relativity and Quantum Theory, Experiments in Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Experiments in Molecular Bacteriology, Neuroscience, Principles of Psychology, Environmental Chemistry, Computer Visualization in Chemistry, Analog and Digital Electronics, and Introduction to Astrophysics; for free. The cost of the program is zero dollars for us, we are only "encouraged" to donate. If I get in, I am going to most likely choose one of these three: Relativity and Quantum Theory, Experiments in Atomic and Nuclear Physics, or Anaolog and Digital Electronics.

And yeah, your parents live like 10 minutes away from me.

Oh shut up. There's another thread for this.

Go away with your flame bait....

Columbia is a good school. I just posted a link to something I though the orignal poster might be interested in.
