Just got back from the Barenaked Ladies concert at the DTE Energy Music Theatre (old Pine Knob) outside of Detroit.
Let me just say... wow. I am really not a big BNL fan, but I suppose I like what I hear on the radio... although usually find myself seeking harder, edgier sounds. Regardless of my rather average prior opinion of them, they were simply awesome. They are better musicians than I ever thought. I'm glad I did my friend a favor by buying his extra ticket last minute. I've seen so many artists who just can't pull off live performances (Sum 41 for example) but the BNL guys had the audience in the palms of their hands. Everyone, both guitarist/vocalists, the drummer, bassist and keyboards guy were given the chance to show off their personality and crack a few jokes, often at the expense of audience members. All in good fun though.
And The Proclaimers were the opening act, I had no idea they still existed. They had that "I would walk 500 miles" song years and years ago. That was fun.
I will definately check out BNL albums and maybe see them again next year.
