Just got back from a hiking trip on Grandfather mountain, but...

...I noticed that 1 out of every 5 vehicles up in Boone/Blowing Rock is a Subaru of some sort. Outbacks, regular Legacies, Imprezas, and Forresters are all over the place. NE1 else living in a mountain town notice this?

Anyway, we did 11 miles total in two days...hiked the Daniel Boone Scout trail (I think that was the name of it) and the Profile View trail. Pretty steep stuff.
 
kinda late at night... hope you weren't out there in the dark, trails are trecherous enough as it is during the day. of course, you're not reporting horror stories, so i assume everyone made it out alive.

WTF?? Are you pyschic?? I was just posting that item as I had just read it on Chip Geek 😀

Anyway, we started the Boone trail on Friday afternoon. It was about 49 degrees outside. The trail was dry. We get about 1 mile up and start seeing snow on the trail. We keep going. We get up about another mile, and the trail is covered in snow and ice. I put a jacket on at that time as I had been hiking in short sleeves 🙂 Got up even further and the wind was howling and the fog was crazy.
 
sounds like a lot of fun. hiking was something i did a lot in high school, haven't done it much in college though the rec center does offer quite a bit of it. feeling like superman after taking off the pack that you've carried around for 5 or 6 miles is one of the best feelings you can have. i should go once more before i graduate.
 
I hiked a lot when I was in Boy Scouts. We would do 50-60 mile trips. But this was the first time that I had hiked in about 4 years. And I am hurting for it right now 🙁 My back, shoulders, feet, and legs hurt.
 
nothing that an nice hot tub with some good looking members of the opposite sex won't help. 😉
