Just got awoken good by a spider. . . the poison kind. . .

My wife got up and turned the light on. She was doing something. I opened my eyes and looked up and on the ceiling was a large brown recluse right above me.

CRAP!

I got some bug spray and bombarded it off the ceiling until the wife hit it with a shoe.

Christ I hate spiders.

There's a common house spider that a lot of people confuse with the brown recluse, because it does look very similar, though it's not harmful at all. I've seen a few in my house, from a few feet away they look exactly like a brown recluse, but when you look closer they lack all of the important features. Of course, it very possibly could've been a real one... where do you live?

Probably wasn't a Brown Recluse, where do you live? I always see aggressive house spiders (the kind most mistaken for brown recluses) around my house, and those fvckers are huge and fast.

The wolf spider is what you speak of.

IMO, they are pretty easy to tell apart.

I will try as hard as I can to never live in a part of the US where the brown reclsue lives.
