Just got an Nvidia 1070 and my second monitor does not display anything

I just got the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 (model 08G-P4-6171-KR) and my first LG monitor works just fine using the DVI port, but my second monitor, a ViewSonic using an HDMI port, does not come on.

The nVidia control panel sees it and even labels it as a ViewSonic, but gets 0 feed. The monitor instantly goes into standby when I turn it on.

The ViewSonic works if I use the DVI port, and the LG monitor does not work if I use the HDMI port. Basically, nothing works using the HDMI port. I should note, the 2 cords I'm using is a VGA to HDMI and a DVI to DVI.

Whats the issue here?

Thanks

Does it work if you don't use the DVI port as well? Sometimes the ports aren't able to be used at the same time.

@96Firebird Yes, the ViewSonic only has VGA and DVI on the back. No HDMI, so I have to do something since the 1070 only has 1 DVI port.
@Bacon1 No. I plugged just the HDMI in and no feed on either monitor.

Sounds like it might be a bad card then if it doesn't work just by itself. Try another cable if you have one but if nothing still might need to return it

Your card is fine, you need an active HDMI to VGA adapter since none of the 1070's outputs are the analog signal that your VGA monitor is looking for.

What is the model number for both your monitors?

If both your monitors have DVI, your best bet is to get an HDMI to DVI cable.

The GTX 1070 does not contain any analog VGA outputs, not VGA, not DVI-I, etc.

Unless you are using an active HDMI to VGA adapter, it won't work.

If both monitors have a DVI input, then use a DVI from video card to DVI on monitor, and then use an HDMI on video card to DVI on the other monitor, using a (passive) HDMI-to-DVI (they go either way) cable.
