Dell just sent me a 9800 mobilty g/x card for my 9100 laptop. Can this be fitted into a non dell laptop?

Thinking of buying something on ebay to upgrade and resell?

just an idea...

Any thoughts?

Probably not, it might fit physically, but if the laptop cooling was not designed to handle a 9800 it wont be able to cool it down.

laptops are designed to efficiently cool their hardware, but nothing more.

most likely not. I'd definitely say form factor is the player in that problem.....yeah, but up a machine on eBay, install it, and resale it...people want these cards....I dunno why, since they are such high power req. cards....I personally am looking forward to the ATI X-series notebook cards....supposed to be pretty good :)

nope, sorry...those chips are custom fitted for 2 Dell models, the 9100 and XPS...won't fit without resoldering and so on doing heavy mods to the card...

Is that the 256MB card? Would that fit on any dell, say the 8600; or only the XPS?
