Just got an email from some company

maybe even longer... they're very interested in talking with me.. local position here in town.

we set up a conference call for Friday afternoon to talk with the hiring manager. the recruiter was a little pushy in her email, though.. they usually are.

anyway, she asked about my salary requirements range.. i gave it to her and her balloon deflated a bit... but she said let's do the call and if they love me, they can find ways to make it work.

Some companies hold resumes for at least a year, sometimes more.

yeah that happens i had a place call me for a job 15 months AFTER i had a inteview. i thought that was pretty weird. i gave them a salery requirment that they would not pay anyone. pitty they didnt call back heh.

Not surprise. I've gotten calls from companies so long back that I don't even remember that I sent them a resume.

For some reason companies think that the job market allows them to be lazy when responding to such things. Back when I was looking for work I applied at a few places, worked some contacts, typical stuff. I found a reasonable job with a decent company, something I've enjoyed doing for the last few months.

All of a sudden, one of the companies I was using as a last resort kind of thing suddenly emailed me, saying that I needed to show up that Friday at 3pm for my interview, or I wouldn't be considered for the job. I found it pretty funny since I hadn't heard anything from them in months, now suddenly they had scheduled an appointment that I HAD to show up for?

the problem is the company is way across town(traffic) and is part of the aerospace industry(unstable).

i'm reasonably happy where i'm at... get paid well + bonuses + stock options.

i'll talk to them just to see what they have to offer.

Just ask for an outrageous amount of money if your current job is already cool. Can't really lose there.
