Edit: Regarding P67 & H67

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. Newegg has recently become aware of a design issue that is affecting recent models of Intel Sandy Bridge platform motherboards. We are working with Intel to identify the exact nature of this problem.

As always, Newegg remains 100% committed to our customers' total satisfaction. In keeping with our commitment to our customers, we are extending the return period for your motherboard by 90 days or until replacements become available from the manufacturer, whichever is greater. Intel expects to have a new revision of the P67 & H67 chipsets out around April, at which point first-run motherboards with this issue will need to be physically replaced in affected systems.

From a technical standpoint, the design issue can be bypassed fairly simply by not using the Serial ATA (SATA) ports that are affected. Your motherboard’s manual should identify your SATA ports by number, and at a minimum you should see ports 0-5 (6 ports in total) listed. Ports 0 and 1 are Sata Rev. III (6Gbps), and do not appear to be affected by this problem. Ports 2-5 are SATA Rev. II (3Gbps) and should not be used. For a thorough explanation of this hardware work-around, please refer to our video on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJcE2alQPvY

If you choose to use the hardware work-around option, there is no need to contact us at this time. We have your information on record and will email you as soon as the replacements become available. If you would like to discuss this with our tech community or read up on the latest updates, please visit our EggXpert forum:
http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/682006.aspx

If none of the above options are suitable to your needs and you wish to return the board at this time for a full refund, please email us at intelsandybridge@newegg.com and include your sales order number so we can help you out with your return.

If you have any concerns, please contact Newegg Customer Service for further information and assistance.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Your Newegg.com Customer Service Team

Same here. So happy with newegg's service. I'm kind of glad I bought it off newegg instead of microcenter for 50$ cheaper now...

Oh how I miss nForce. That said, I am going through with my SB build with the workaround.

"We are working with Intel to identify the exact nature of this problem."

O'really? Didn't know Newegg is a consultant for Intel. ;)

Z68 should be out by then, right? :D

Is it 90 days + original 30?

yeah I wonder....90 or 90 + 30? actually it says 90, or longer if it takes longer for replacements.

Do you take it then that even 89 days from date of purchase, we could return the board for a refund? I'm loving Newegg right now for manning up, as this takes the pressure off and allows us to keep using the system a little, and watch and wait to see what form the recall will take. If the recall is gonna be too much of a PITA, then I'll return the board to Newegg and move on. If the recall is gonna be easy (like ASUS or Intel or someone mails a new board and sends a UPS label for the old one) then I'll do that. What I don't want to do is ship my current board on the slow boat to Malaysia and wait 8 weeks while some guy solders a new chip onto it and boats it back. I think Intel owes it to us to give us a fresh, new, working board, and if they end up with a pile of recall boards from the early adopters, then fix it on their own time and send them off to Dell at a discount price....I'm sure Dell or someone would take them.

It's late February not April:

"The company expects to begin delivering the updated version of the chipset to customers in late February and expects full volume recovery in April."

I guess there will be some customers that will be affected by the delay, but buying it individually from stores like Newegg shouldn't have to wait till April.

Weird, no email here yet (asus p67 deluxe), wonder if they are sending them out in batches.

I got one from ncix and newegg same time as I bought two boards.

I am just going to install a pci Sata card and forget about this mess.

I assume by customers they mean ASUS and GB. But maybe you're right - that would theoretically allow ASUS and GB to turn on the mobo machines again and start cranking out mobos. Would be great if we could be in line to get the FIRST mobos they build rather than have them building inventory stocks in their warehouse and then getting around to sending us ours.

Did you do anything to elicit this email/response from newegg or did it just come out of the blue? I have not received any such email and I bought an Asus P8P67 Pro through newegg.com on 1/17/2011.

Guess it's time for more education...what does the Z68 have over the P67?

It allows you to use the on-die graphics processor on sandy bridge CPU's and still lets you overclock. The H67 does not let you overclock but lets you use the on-die graphics. The P67 does not let you use the on-die graphics so you need a discrete/add-on graphics card but it lets you overclock.

I just got the email without asking. Maybe check your junkmail folder.

Same, when the news broke, I didn't even bother calling/emailing Newegg or Asus. At most, I visited Newegg's site today to verify that they did indeed pull the Sandybridge CPU's/mobos.

Do you think this email guarantees anything about how replacement will happen? I really hope I don't have to pay to ship on my end. Ideally they'd be like Dell's business support where they send you a replacement part and give you a box to mail the bad part back within a certain amount of time (before charging you, which is fair if you dawdle).

My motherboard is on a delivery truck somewhere between Vancouver and Toronto; it left newegg the Friday before the annoucement.

Nice enough of them. I wonder if the motherboard manufacturers will offer the same board with updates or a different revision/model number.
I bet this slows down motherboard bios updates...
I hate to have to reformat again if I can avoid it.

No reason for me to not install now and enjoy the system on the SATA III ports for a month or two. Gotta get a case now (and send out motherboard rebates! :p )
