Just got an email from College Board

Dear Amol,

We want to assure you that accurate student scores and a quality testing experience are the College Board's top priorities. For this reason, we are taking additional steps in the SAT scanning process. As a result, the score reporting date will be extended approximately one week. This will allow us to be certain that the new processes are implemented thoroughly.

We would like you to know that:
[*]Your April SAT scores can be viewed online starting April 24.
[*]Official scores will be mailed to you beginning on May 5.
[*]We will be sending scores to your high school and to any colleges to which you requested scores be sent beginning on April 24.

Our scanning vendor, Pearson Educational Measurement, is implementing enhanced quality controls, which include acclimatizing all answer sheets before scanning to eliminate any possibility of a humidity impact, improving software to identify any answer sheet expansion that might occur due to humidity, and scanning each answer sheet twice, on different days.

As College Board President Gaston Caperton has said, "We want every student to feel confident at all times about the accuracy of his or her scores."

Because of the additional measures we are taking, May and June test scores will also be available approximately one week later than previously announced. We appreciate your understanding as we work to further enhance the quality of our processes.

Good to know that they're taking an extra week to make sure of scores, especially after the October fiasco. But I'll have to wait another week for the score. 🙁

What was the October fiasco? (sorry its been way too many years =/)

It actually happened just last month

http://www.cnn.com/2006/EDUCATION/03/23/sat.scoring.error.ap/index.html

Summary: The company that scores the scantrons for College Board screwed up and gave many people lower scores and some people higher scores. This was the October SAT and many people got lower scores than they should have and changed their college application plans. Screwed a lot of people over. One girl went from getting a 2050 to 2250; she said she didn't apply to a couple of the schools she wanted to go to because her score was low. Now she's pissed. There's a lawsuit too.

hahaha who remembers the 2003 AP tests fiasco where they invalidated a bunch of scores (raises hand) for people who talked on forums

Whoa, are you serious? Was it because they discussed it less than two days after the exam? Or because they discussed it at all?

Did you get -450 points due to scoring error like some people?

I didn't take last October's SAT. The April 1st test was the first New SAT I've taken; I took the old SAT, but colleges don't take that anymore.
