I just got my Ati Wonder today and installed everything flawlessly. No problems with installation. Then I go click on Tv and it looks like it's ok but a screen pops up telling me that Direct X 9 hasn't been properly installed and it can't find Ati's WDM drivers. I have installed, un-installed, re-installed all the drivers, direct x 9.0c, and WDM drivers for the Radeon 9800 Pro card and the HDTV Tuner. I have also searched all over the web and couldn't find anyone with the same problems. I hope someone here can help. I'm trying to surprise someone with this but it doesn't look like I will have it ready when they come home. Everything else seems to work. The multimedia center only has problems displaying tv but nothing else. Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, I have gone through Ati's website for support on this thing but can't find any. I keep ending up at dead ends everytime. All I want is a stinking email address but no luck.

I just got my card off autocrat and I too have X800Pro and going through the same bs. I have found that if you fully set up the analog tuner the digital one will not work without getting awarning that the graphics chip isnt a radeon when it shows primary and secondary as being a radeon X800PRO. If you uninstall everything and fully install the digital tuner then the analog one gives you the warning. Then the great directx is not installed properly and the missing Video capture bs BUT after 24 hours of messing around with it I hit pay dirt and got it to work!!!!!

Use the remove all ATI software uninstaller that comes with the disk.
Then do this in order:
Install the latest Graphics card driver
Make sure you have media incoder 9 installed which can be found off ati's site in the hdtv wonder driver section.
download ALL 4 new driver sets
Keep your original disk in the cd rom
then install the tuner software from the disk that came with it
go to start, control pannel, add remove hardware and remove ONLY the mmc portion.
Now install the new drivers you downloaded in order. You will get a warning asking if you want to overwrite the canadian with the english version select yes everytime.
Reboot when it asks you to after the second driver and last.
Now here is when the driver gets tricked.
Click on the tv and the warning for the dma bs (yes we all have it installed) comes up. Click never see again. If you dont you wont be able to use the schedual stuff because the warning will always come up when tv is used.
After doing that it wants to start to set up the tuner BUT cancel out.
Then go and click on the dtv. You will get the same warning but no matter how many times you click never show again it will. Small price to pay to be able to get it to work.
Go ahead and go through the entire set up process for DTV.
After it is done go back and click on tv it should now not give you the warning about the dma on the hdd.
Set up TV as you would.
Thats it. Should be working with your X800PRo card. The only downside is likk I said when you select the dtv it will always prompt the dma warning but click ok and it will all work.

LMK if this works for you as well and I will post this everywhere for all to see.

You will not get a response. they know there is a problem and they are just ignoring it. If you do what I wrote step by it will work but you will need to redo everything.

To get rid of the dma just go into my computer properties.
Select hardware
goto ide controller
revert it back.
After doing that if your running a nforce 2 board the warning will go away.

I'd recommend upgrading your video card, to one that includes DX9 support.
Such as the Radeon 9600, 9800 (or better).
DX9 support is supposedly a requirement, although some Radeon 8500 owners have reported success with the HDTV Wonder card.
For example, a Radeon 9600 card can be found at Newegg.com's "refurbished" section, for under $80.

thought about buying this card when it came out but reviews were less then spectaular as it still had lots of problems.

try all 128 of funboys suggestions then hop up and down on one leg twirl around and say the magic words.

but seriously wouldn't it be nice if they released things when they were actually ready for the real world?? As end users we constantly experience this. and then are thrilled to death when an install actually goes as expected.

One of my personal favorites is when I tried to install drivers from cd for a lexmark all in one printer. they are made in china but the default install language was spanish for some reason. so with my 7th grade spanish skills( from 30 years ago) I uninstalled it navigated my way through the spanish menu and reinstalled in english. Which would of been funny in itself but of course the uninstall program didn't work either so I had to go to lexmarks site and get the lexmark clean utility to clean up the mess lexmarks uninstall left behind.

The ATI HDTV Remote Control Edition was available for $99 (after rebates) right after Christmas from Microcenter. It's currently available for $150 (w/o rebates) from CompUSA. Where can I buy the Fusion card for less than that?

hahahahahahaha

Thats the ultimate insult...a $20 used hauppauge card is preferred over the Ati HDTV. I've been eyeballing the new TV Wonder Elite, but from my previous experience with ATI I don't think its worth the hassle.

Have you installed Windows Media "Encoder"9? Its required for ATI MMC installation or it will give the errors you describe.

Download it here Link. You may have to do a "Repair" install of MMC after.

HDTV WONDER Windows XP Software
Instructions:
Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0 and Windows Media Encoder 9.0 must be installed prior to attempting to install MMC.

I'm using the HDTV Wonder in both ATI's MMC and MCE 2005, and find it quite nice. So its certainly possible to have it setup and working well (I've used it since right before last summers Olympic Broadcasts)

I'm familiar with HDTV with my PC having owned and used MyHD-100 HDTV Tuner Card for a couple years (its a fine hardware HDTV PCI tuner card), and I now use the ATI HDTV Wonder under MCE 2005 as my prefered solution.

The integration of the EPG with SD, and MCE's excellent scheduler for both Analog and OTA Digital make it a very good setup provided everything is setup properly.

Even with HDTV Wonders software encoding, coupled with a pair of eHome Wonder hardware encoder cards, recording 2 analog + 1 DTV channel are using <%30 cpu and the files are synced and excellent quality.

I just installed MMC 9.03 on my MCE system, and the DTV worked fine, and its still working fine in MCE as well....something I hadn't realized was possible :). I'm still seeing the aggravating DMA warning bug since I'm using Nvidia IDE drivers, but quick check recording and timeshifting was working fine using MMC. Playback looked great and the ATI library export worked as well.

I have used my HDTV Wonder with both my AIW 9700pro and my eVGA 6800 standard in MCE 2005.
