Well what is a good OC? I have my core at 680 and memory at 944 and it plays Crysis just fine. The load temp was at least 49C, but it drops quickly and I wasn't checking it during the game, just after I quit.

My BFG 8800GT is at 700/1760/1950 core/shader/mem. This is aircooled on a Zalman vf900. Yes, I have sinks on the RAM and VRM, although they're probably not necessary.

Idle temps in the mid-low 40s, load temps peak around 59-60C.

Leave RivaTuner running in the background sometime while you game, so you can see the actual load temps. Just the time it takes to alt-tab out of a game and fire up a temp monitor can allow the GPU to cool 10-15 degrees C. If you want personal proof, get a temp monitor polling at 1s intervals and run ATi-Tool artifact scan, and watch how quickly the temp jumps up when you start the scan. Then turn it off and watch how quickly the temp drops off from its max load.

Ja1484 - That sounds like a nice OC. Of course your after market cooling helps. I haven't tried oc'ing the shader yet.

I wish I could get the temp from RivaTuner or ATi-Tool, but they can't read the sensor on my card. I think I've read Asus switched the sensor for this card. I am running the artifact scan right now though. Is it fairly consistent with finding artifacts? I just haven't used it before, don't know if its trustworthy. After tunning for 6minutes my temp is reading ~57C.

whoa..nice card..
Does zipzoomfly ship to canada btw?

Thanks. I don't believe they ship to Canada. But if you live up that way, why not order from NCIX?

It's generally agreed that ATi Tools artifact scan is as trustworthy as any other stability test you could come up with for a GPU. It's kind of like prime for graphics chips.

And yeah, given the look of the cooler ASUS has slapped on there, 57C seems about right. Usually your load temp will stabilize somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes in - hence why all AT's temp readings in reviews are after 20 minutes at load.

Thats good to know. I'll keep using it to test out my overclocks. I haven't even started with the shader yet, but I think I'll give that a go. I don't know how much more the core will give up. I suppose the core on yours is the same as mine? Might go for 700 then.

Edit: I am at 695/1690/1924 (GPU/Shader/RAM) now, seeing how it does in ATITool.

So far I am 17minutes in with those clocks and ATITool reports zero errors and the temp has peaked at 60C.
