Actually a true statement for the X-fi

senns:
hd555 149.99 jr.com(they email you the adjusted price. I ordered from them topnotch service)
hd580 149.99)
hd595(reccomended ) 189.99 jr.com

The 580s are more laid back then the 555 and 595. theres other options but im a senn fanboy

I have Klipsch Promedia 2.1's, which rocked on my M-Audio Revolution 7.1 (which unfortunately does not rock under XP x64). I'm actually considering an X-Fi because Creative seems to be doing better with drivers these days, and the 2.1's bring out the flaws in the average onboard audio codec.

I currently have the Kilpsch Promedia 2.1's with the X-fi. For computer speakers, you can't beat them.

I think the iFi is probably several orders more accurate than the PM 2.1s...

The iFi speakers have a VERY similar sub to the PM series, although they upgraded the sats to the RSX-3 reference line. About the best 2.1 set you can get.

I personally wouldn't settle for computer speakers with an X-fi if I had the money for new speakers. I would just go to Walmart and find a nice 5.1 system and I'd just hook that up to my X-fi.

install it, make sure you do not have the static problems that plagued the first half dozen or so revisions of the card.

PC speakers are much better than cheap HTiB from walmart(to a certain price point)

Probably that one :)

I wouldn't recommend 5.1, although I would be willing to recommend 4.1, and perhaps 6.1 without a center.

Ribbons have their plusses and minuses. I personally prefer a linear traditional loudspeaker design, say a set of Revels.

I personally prefer electrostatic speakers with an infinite baffle enclosure... but we don't always get what we want. :)
