...said they are interested in possibly hiring me. They want me to call the VP, gave me her number.
What I can't figure out is what they'd want to hire me for -- I'm just a geek. Sure, I can build computers, network, and program, but they must have lots of people who can take care of their needs. I haven't been looking for a job in over 2 months so it's not like I just applied to work there, I'm not even entirely sure what they do there.

What do you guys think? Is it worthwhile to look into this? My current job is easy and kind of boring (it's also programming which I do not really enjoy), but it's nice because the hours are flexible, so when I need time off to get my homework done, it's not a problem. The pay isn't too bad, $10.50/hr now and I'm getting a raise to $14/hr next month.

I'd feel kind of bad leaving them too, it's a small company and I make up 1/2 of their programming team.

careful!

My wife almost got suckered into a job at primerica.

It is a multi level type organization, like Amway.

You will find out that you have to pay them $199 to join up (Never pay to get a new job)

You will see you will not get a salary.

You will be a salesperson, consolidating debt for other people, and selling them term life insurance.

With your $199, you will need to bring a list of your friends and family , so the person who gets you in, can call them up, and get some business.. They get the commission.

You recruit others, and use their friends and family list.

Be very careful, eyes wide open, and if that is for you, congrats, do it, and have fun doing it.

Ask questions, don't assume anything.

Was not for us, it may or may not be for you.

Do a search and find out the good and bad for yourself.

Actually what Jal said I know to be true--'cept the part about the fee, I am not sure about that one.
We have some insurance with them(groan, don't get me started) and they also kept trying to recruit me. Apparently they are always trying to recruit new sales people.
However it may be that they want you for another position, so don't dismiss it immediately. Find out all you can and see if it's for you.
Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up...I would never pay for a new job. I would also never be a sales person. :)
Maybe I won't call them back after all...
