It had a very bad cavity in it and part of the tooth was gone. It was either have it pulled or get a root canal. Its the last tooth, so I just pulled it.

were you under general anesthesia? your description makes me think it was just local. i remember when i got my wisdom teeth removed, it started bleeding a few hours after i got home. took about a day for it to stop.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled, and I just had a root canal on another. You took the less painful choice.

I really need to get my wisdom teeth yanked, but I'm dreading the no-smoking rule. Maybe I can smoke through my nose for a day?

Screw that. I smoked after having mine pulled and I turned out just fine.

You should be more worried about not munching too many of the percocets at once ;)

How much did it cost to get the tooth pulled? I just paid $1050 for a root canal.

Luckily he gave me tylenol with codeine, because they said its probably going to hurt a lot because they had such a hard time with it. I hope my face doesn't swell. :(

I knew a girl back in college that had some of her wisdom teeth pulled (4 i think)... she had to go under, and when she woke, she had bruises around her head from the doctor's fingers, as he/she used it for leverage to pull the teeth out.

In my case my dentist recommended to bite down for one full hour. I ended up replacing the gauze after one hour, then biting down for one more hour before I removed the gauze altogether.

Didn't your dentist give you any instructions on what to do once you get home, etc. ?

You may want to call them back if you have a lot of questions, just to make sure you get correct info.

BTW, my teeth were like $105 each IIRC, so $210 for the both of them. That was the cheapest this place got, since mine were very basic on removal.
