I rolled over a stop sign at 15-20mph around 10ish in the middle of nowhere. soon after that, I got pulled over by this cop.

anyways, the best part was "slow down a little bit next time" told by the cop.

got a ticket to fight now.

update: got back from the court. it was drop down to a parking ticket + driving school. total cost is $60 + $25. sweet, no point. most of the people got the same result as mine.

spend some tax dollars in court for something he just admitted to doing, hopefully to get off on some kinda of technicality because the officer is overworked and underpaid. Suck it up and pay.

yea, under 10 is a little slower. 15-20 on a stop sign is pretty fast. That's not even yielding, why didn't you just yield?

Be accountable and take your lumps like a man. Also, be glad you just ran as stop sign. At least you didn't hit someone or kill them!
Be accountable for your actions, otherwise you have no business on the road.

it was in the middle of nowhere. totally country road. I saw no on coming light, so I just ran it. I should've tapped my brake a little like I normally would do. :(

These ticket threads come up all the time. They ALL follow the same pattern.

- OP describes circumstances which lead to said ticket.
- OP says he/she is gonna fight the ticket, even though they are guilty.
- Thread becomes a fight over principle, personal responsibility, etc etc
- OP gets pissed as if he/she had no idea the thread would cause controversy.

IMHO, be a man, accept responsibility and do the right thing. Pay your ticket. :)

OK I have seen ppl here who received alot of help and support because they were nailed by some cop for no reason and out of spite with no proof, but what do you expect when you say that you have broken the law and you want to fight it.

I did once a 65 / 35 on a country road, I by no means had any intention to speed It was 3 : 00 AM and there wasn't any other car within miles, I was just too sleepy to see how fast I was going nor I realised that I was speeding.
I got stopped and got handed a nice little ticket $ 130 + , what did I do about it, I tried my best to explain to the cop that I was just sleepy coming back from a 12 hour shift and didn't know that I was way over limit, he didn't beleive me but hey when you brake the law that's how much you can fight it, before the ticket .
Then I sucked it up like a man and paid the ticket in full and went on with my life.

So suck it up and pay. You have no justification to fight it, unless you can prove to the judge that you were being chased by some Indians riding in a tricked 2006 BMW M6 being assisted by aliens from planet X54800-0, which is a little hard to prove.

You're a good man! I thought I was alone in thinking that just because you can fight a ticket, doesn't mean you should, when you know you're guilty.

 for being a man of principle and doing the right thing.

Maybe it's just me, but if I got pulled over the last excuse I would use would be telling the cop I'm currently so physically impaired I don't have a clear understand of what is going on. ;)

EDIT: To the OP. You're a moron if you fight this. You have an apparent habit of RUNNING (not rolling, but running) stops signs and you got caught this time. Pay up and drive safer.

I am sorry for telling the truth  What would you have me tell him I was being chased by aliens, I told him the truth and I don't think in that particular situation anything else would have made it look better / get me out of trouble.

Hey, idiots who do this thing make me feel unsafe on the road. Almost every other night on my way home, there is always some jack ass trying to get to the stop sign first, since after that it becomes just a two lane for about 500 feet. So, these jackasses don't bother to stop at the 4 way, but just gun it and run it. :|
Is life getting that competetive that one can't live with having to stop, to avoid NOT being first into the temporary 2 lane. It only takes a few seconds, then it's 4 lane again.

Usually, it's a big Chevy SUV or a Hemi Dodge driver.

And then, the OP will have just wasted good people's time, who could be doing more important work, then dealing with a young pimple farmer, who fights his obvious traffic violation.

beg the judge for a reduce. this is my first time violation and I don't want the points. money isn't the problem, the points is.

You deserve the points. You've earned them. Look you're gonna pay for this, so do so with some grace. What you might find out, is if you do some traffic school or something, maybe you can get some reduced fine or point reduction. That is a form of payment.

And the Judge is going to laugh in your face if you are lucky, and slam you with court cost if you are not. compuwiz1 is right! You are wasting the courts time, and many judges frown at that.

What if ANOTHER jackass decided to drive with no lights?
Sure, he shouldn't be doing it, but then you shouldn't be rolling a stop sign. If you both crash, I doubt a huge number of people would have sympathy.

I never said you should lie. I just said I wouldn't have used being too impaired to drive as an excuse for why I was speeding. It's akin saying, "Sorry, I was speeding officer. I had so much beer tonight I couldn't tell how fast I was going."

There have been a lot of studies in the past 5-10 years on "driving tired" and may studies have shown that a fatigued as impaired as a drunk driver and some states have adopted laws making "driving tired" a criminal offense.

If it was me I just woulda apologized and let that be that 'cause unless your house was on fire or you were rushing to the hospital because of a life threatening emergency I don't any excuse woulda gotten you a warning instead of a ticket.
