Just got a Sony DSC-P32 digital camera, quick question

Well my granddad gave me this Sony DSC-P32 Digital Camera. Well every time I put brand new batteries in duracell it turns on for a few seconds then turns off...does this camera need special batteries or something? I tried 4 packs of brand new batteries on it...but it still kept doing the samething. If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it....

A quick google reveals : "2 x AA NiMH rechargeable batteries (2100mAH included with charger)"

Are those AA cells providing 2100mAH or anything close?

They use alot of batteries.
