just got a SATA drive

would i be wrong to assume that if you are using a Windows XP with SP2 and using an SATA drive, if the motherboard is fairly new, you shouldn't have to install any drivers via the floppy drive? because my roomate didn't have to but he built his rig using a 939 athlon 3000 and gigabyte nforce board.

Well I just slipstreamed SP2 about a month ago and just upgraded to a DFI Ultra-D. As for the SATA drive its not one of the newer ones I don't think. It was bought Sep of last year.

if sp2 is slipstreamed you should be able to install winxp without floppy and drivers..unless you are going to RAID

The drive should not be "moist" no matter how cold it is (unless they left it sitting on your doorstep overnight and it got condensation on it). Definitely wipe off the drive if it got wet somehow before using it.

I'd give the drive an hour or two at room temperature if it's been in an extremely cold environment before you start it up. You can also check the rated operating temperature in the spec sheets, which should be available at the manufacturer's website if they were not included with the drive.

Well the metal cover got a little moist once it hit the warm air in my room(stays hot in here). It wasn't left on the doorstep. My guess is its been on the truck most of the day. I'll leave it sitting out for a while before running it.
