Just got a Sapphire 9500 non pro with L. Modded and OC'd, check inside for results

Softmodded it to a 9800, now i'm downloading 3dmark to see what my results are.


it seems to look ok. desktop looks better than it did with my 8500 but that's not why i bought this card. 🙂

i thought these get softmodded to a 9700 and ocing takes it to a 9700 pro?

Thats what I thought. Also, doesn't the 9800 have shader optimizations and better AA and AF handling or something? Some of that was architectural if I remember so while you may have modded it to a 9800, I think you're only getting the performance of a 9700 Pro.

here it is.

A: During development of Radeon 9800 drivers ATI found a way to increase performance for 9500/9700 drivers too. However they decided not to include these improvements for the 9500/9700 series at this time. They will be included in Catalyst 3.3 if they prove to be stable.
To verify the improvements I used 3DMark2001 standard pixel shader test with 6x Anti-Aliasing. This gave me a ~10% increase. Post your results here

take it for what it's worth.

i currently am trying the catalyst 3.5 will post 3dmark scores in a few.

so i OC'd my card, now it is at 300(memory)/325(core)

and i get the following results.

3dMark Score 4826
Fill Rate Multi = 2316.4

System Specs

2700+ AXP (not OC'd)
512 OCZ 3200 Ram (1 stick, will buy another soon)
9500 Sapphire Modded and OC'd.

yup got the same card, can do 360/310.

with newer drivers my fill rate is now up to 2600.

i'm very very happy with this card.

btw, i haven't pushed it yet to see max speed, but not in a hurry to do so.

am very happy at 300/325

Newegg.com has them in stock. I got one but it had major artifacts when i modded it. It's the Sapphire 128mb 9500 with the gold heatsink.

Thats a really nice score for an OC'ed. I have a 9800 Non Pro stock with a 2.8C, 2x 256MB XMS, P4P800 Deluxe and I get 5138. Thats a really nice fill rate BTW, with Cat 3.5's I get 2278 with everything stock.
