Just got a phone call. "This call is being placed to verify the number"

That is the second call today and I am on the Do Not Call list.

I though it was illegal for them to call and for them to block their ID from coming up on the caller ID. 90% of my phone calls are crap like this.

When it shows private name and # I just hit the talk button and dont say anything, then it just starts in. I am in TX.

Since when do telemarketers call and ask to "verify the number"?
I hope he didn't ask you for any information or to push any buttons on ur phone.

Somewhat off-topic, but I use a cell-phone exclusively; my landline exists soley because SBC requires it for DSL. I don't answer the landline - the answering machine screens my calls. I'm about this close ---> <--- to turning off the ringer completely; I just need to convince my parents that they are not "wasting my minutes" by calling my cell phone!

The national DNCL has worked for me. South Carolina didn't have one to begin with.

Went from 4-5 calls a night to 1-2 calls a week.
