I never really figured there was much difference between powdered pepper and fresh cracked pepper. just got a grinder with some red green and black peppers and wow, never knew pepper was this good lol.

Now I know why europeans enjoyed pepper so much when they got it from china.

Yep. Fresh spices are 100x better than old stale spices. To blow your world, try it with all herbs and spices you use.

I hate powdered pepper actually but primarily because I just prefer a really coarse texture to pepper so you can taste it with each bite. I use whole black peppercorns at my stove for cooking with and the green/red/black blend for the dinner table.

Nothing like a coating of coarse black pepper seared onto a steak...yum

Make sure it's adjustable.

Nothing worse than a grinder tha only does coarse. Nicer ones have very good control over how coarse/fine you want it.

Did you buy the red/green/black peppers at the store? I picked up one of the plastic grinders that already had peppercorn in it and wasn't too impressed. Maybe I'm just buying the wrong stuff!

I like your attitude, I get angry at little things like this. Being corrected =

The peppercorn that comes in the grinders is usually old and not very flavorful. I buy the large plastic containers of both types (black and multicolor) at Sam's Club/BJ's for around $6.99 each. I got through a ton of it as well since I use such a coarse grind. Definitely get a good grinder though where you can tighten it up for a fine grind or loosen it for a coarse.

Black pepper is good for you as well :)
