My sister gave them to me - they are model "Waimea". These are super nice, but she said I could exchange them if I wanted something else. I don't know much about sunglasses, but I know these were really expensive. Should I keep these, or xchange for a different model or brand, like Revos?

I picked up a pair of the Kanaha's a few months back and love them. They are amazingly light weight, the Bolle's I had before were almost twice as heavy. You pay for it, but they are really nice glasses (Mine ran me about $155 including tax). I've had several pairs of Bolle's, Oakleys, Vaurnet's over the years and these are the best I've had yet for vision, fit and comfort. The only reason I'd think of returning them for is if you don't like the style.

I work at a sunglass store and if i were you id keep the maui jims instead of trading them in for revo or anything else.. Maui Jims have really nice lenses and i believe that you will like the lightweight and flexibility of those glasses. IF you are going to trade them in then i would get Revo, they are the second best

That's nice. She even gave you the option to exchange them -- what a nice sis! Q, though -- why'd you open it before Christmas?! :Q

I gotta agree, she's great! I'm driving down to SoCal on Friday (from SF), so she wanted me to open them early so I could use them for the drive.

I have a $250 pair of Maui Jim's! I've had them for 3 years now! They are by far the best sunglasses I've worn!!!

They're nice. I prefer wraparounds (read: Oakley Minute), but MJs are great eyewear.

my glasses cost me $400. that's with insurance.

Maui Jims are top of the line, as far as standard sunglasses go (ie sunglasses hut or whatever). There could be a better brand for you out there... i could've gotten a different brand but i found a pair of oakley's that looks like it was designed entirely for my face, so I paid for those instead. My ray bans have better lenses, but I prefer the look of my oakley's.

Shop around, read reviews, everyone has different opinions.

Thanks for the great info, everyone. I guess I'll stop by the local sunglass hut after work and try on the different brands. Chances are, I'll end up keeping these MJ's though. As someone pointed out, they are SUPER light and SUPER comfortable - by far the nices pair I've ever had.
