To replace my aging early-HDTV CRT by philips. Man this TV is sooooooo nice. I was looking at plasma too, but the price was perfect on this one. I got circuit city all the way down to $1590.

My one big stipulation for buying an HDTV is it HAS to have 1920x1080 pixel resolution, and man is it beautiful. Only shame is now my DVDs look so low res on it.

The image on this thing is like having sex with your retinas.

EDIT: PICS!

I'm still workin on getting an appropriate stand. And for those who feel 40" is too small, I'll probably buy a bigger one when I buy a house, but for an apartment, I don't want to get too expensive or too big.

Oh come on, I've already seen those. I love seeing how people set up their new TV. You got such a nice TV, made a thread about it, why not show some real pictures?

Edit: please?

According to spidey07 you just wasted a lot of money. Any HD under 50" is worthless.

His tiny 40" TV is fine - if he sits 3 feet away.

What model Phillips was the old TV you had?

It was the old 30" tube that didn't do 720p, only 480p and 1080i. Got it at costco. PIcs are coming...

Cool chairs, did they cost less than $4800?

Originally $1500, but we found them for $800 on craigslist, 3 months old.

Yeah, I need to dust, but I figure I'll do it when I grab a stand. That's why I have cables all over the place at the moment.

I got an Insignia 4:3 tube on Black Friday for $270 after rebate. It does 720p, 1080i, etc. Not bad, especially for the price. Ignoring price for a minute, I'm still leary of current HDTV technologies (Plasma, LCD, DLP) and am waiting for something after the technology matures a bit more. I've heard rumors about OLEDs being used, but I'm not sure how accurate that claim is.

Added a pic just for you of the XP desktop.

I want to see some 1080P action 😛

Haha....that would require a video, not a pic. The computer's outputting at 1080i though. I'm still waiting on my HDMI cables, though, and the maybe later this year I'll pick up a PS3 for the bluray when I can find it cheap enough on craigslist.

I love the couch.
Looks very comfy for watching movies.
Now the setup for the computer needs improvement.
Mine is great for surfing, gaming...lacking for movies

Is that two separate computers, or a KVM switch?
