So I just got this new Toshiba and I open up the task manager, 75 processes!!!

What can I get rid of? Also what programs can I remove/uninstall?

Thanks in advanced!

A list of the running prosses would help.

In general its easy to look threw the program files list and see what isn't needed. Start checking out some of the programs that are installed. You'll quickly see which ones are the free trials. Those can be deleted.

Thats exactly the reason the first thing I do when I get a new laptop is format the whole drive and do my own install.

First thing is to get rid of the non essential software. Most notebooks come with trials and trial antivirus software, get rid of it first unless you want to use it.
Things like camera utilities, skype, nero related stuff, tasks like quicktime etc don't need to be run on startup.

You can also use Spybot search and destroy to view startup progs or windows defender.
In spybot just untick the stuff you don't need (Don't delete at first unless your certain you don't need it)

Toshiba and HP/Compaq are in competition to see who can load the most garbage on their computers. They assume that their customer are stupid and will swallow anything they try to shove down their throats. Unfortunately, in most cases, they're right.

For the most part that extra bloat ware is money in there pockets. Really its suppose to help keep the cost of the laptop down. Since those software makers are paying the computer makers to add that stuff to the systems they build. But most of the time it goes into the manufactures pockets.
