Just got a new DVD drive...what do I need to play back movies?

I just got a new OEM DVD drive without any accessories or software. I think I need software to playback the movies, but I'm not sure. Am I right? If so, is this software free at all?

Thanks for your help. 😀

Windows 89/Me has a DVD Player, but requires additional codecs.

I would recommend Power DVD 3.

So I will have no problem slipping a DVD in and windows should do it's thing? Cool. I already have a home DVD player, so I won't be using the new one too much, rather not pay for a player. Listen how I got the drive-- I went to a computer show with my friends today and my friend needed to buy 3 cd-rom drives. So he orders them up and we notice that the guy forgot to charge him for one. Well, he got home and not only was one free but it was mislabeled as a CD-rom when it was DVD. He already has one so he is giving it to me! I love dumb people sometimes!!! 😀

You are looking for a software DVD player. I am using WinDVD 2.1 Cracked and it is very good! Go to a search engine and go for a search for "Software DVD Players" and the major ones are Power DVD, Win DVD and Cine DVD player. Download demo versions of each and test them out and then when you are happy with the one you ahve chosen either be a good honnist guy and pay for it to be unlocked or to download the full version and make a backup of it OR download a patially full copy of it and then crack it like have to have a free DVD player. I am only 16 so I go for the cheaper version as I can't pay for it and my parents don't really care if I crack software or stuff for my own personal use.

Good Luck,

SKY.
