Just got a new computer!

XZeroII

Actually, it's a pre-enjoyed computer. I'm not sure exactly what to do with it right now. Here are the specs,

Celereon 466
64mb RAM
Built-in vidcard
Crappy looking case

I put an old 6gig HDD in it
I put an oly 24x CDROM in it (which I droped on the floor twice 🙁 Yea they bounce pretty far)
I put a network card in.

I'm not sure what to do with it. I put Windows XP on it and it runs decent. I was thinking of selling it for like $75 or so w/o monitor, but including an old keyboard and mouse but I don't know if that's a ripoff or not. I don't run Linux and won't put Linux on there as a web host because I run ASP.NET web applications which don't run on Linux. Any ideas on what I can do with it besides record myself lighting it on fire and posting the video on AT?

It will still run office apps and surf the web just fine. If you are looking for a tax break, you could donate it to charity and then write it off for a decent amount.

no tax breaks needed at the moment. I agree that it runs the internet well and office, but I don't know how much to charge for it w/o a monitor. Do you think $75 is too much?

I was going to suggest something similar. Or if you don't care about getting any money for it, you could just donate it to a family member or something who may not have a computer, but wants one for basic things like surfing the web, checking e-mail, word processing, etc. I've got an aunt who's still using my old Cyrix P200 system as her main computer. I'm about to give her a great upgrade in the form of one of my old Celeron 900-based systems.

i dont think 75 is unreasonable for that
i would charge 100 to someone who just needs a basic computer for websurfing email etc
100 bucks for a perfectly usable machine? sounds okay to me.
especially when they have to drop 5 or 6 times that amount to get a low end dell they would use for the same tasks.

$75 sounds about right to me.

I had an old AMD 333mhz with 128mb memory and a 10gb HD, Win98se I sold it with speakers and keyboard/mouse for $75 to a friend. He's still using it, and it was "just enough" computer for what he uses it for.
