I would be interested in knowing your long term mileage...

three things turned me off from an Si.

#1. Premium Fuel
#2. Black Interior
#3. Red lighting

I know the last might seem silly but I will not own cars with black interiors.

Dealer near me only had summer tire equipped cars and those don't last long enough to warrant buying

no tracks in the nearby area that i know of. I will have to do some research.

and as for the winter/gravel comment, I actually have the summer tires on this (kinda stupid, but its the only one they had left). so i'll just park it in the garage for a couple of weeks in the winter.

and yes, i always wait for it to get halfway on the temp gauge before i start moving. it only takes ~5 mins

bigpow, it is a 6speed. the gearing is still quite short though

I don't know much about Honda's but it seems the trend now-a-days is to actually drive your car very lightly to let it warm up and not just let it sit to let it warm up so the oil gets moving through the engine.

Take it to the track (road course)! If you lived in California, I'd meet up with you at a track day. I zoomed around Laguna Seca in my TSX with my buddy driving a Si Coupe (TSX's track duty has since been replaced with an SRT-4 though). Fun front driver!

Welcome to the club

Same color as yours too, haha.

It's a bit "nervous" on the track though at speed. Cured the understeer problems it had with Hotchkis sways, but the struts and springs still need to be replaced. It's been on the track 5 times so far. I took the TSX 5 times before I got the SRT as a dedicated track car, felt much more planted in the corners, but was a 'bit' slower 😉

Some advice - consider a bra for it for the winter. I bought a new black Mazda6 last year and all of the stone chips from a Pittsburgh winter killed the front end of my car. I don't know what it is about PenDOT, but they love to throw down the gravel. I just moved to VA and am considering getting the front end of my car repainted.
Or consider a clear-bra type. I hate those ugly-ass black bras on any car. The only valid use IMO is what a friend did - he put it on his Evo before a cross-country month-long road trip. Regular bra + long term use =

well im not a big fan of the traditional bra either, but he has a black car so a traditional bra shouldnt stick out as much.

OP,

You may wanna edit your original post pointing to "Pic21" as that's the pic most people are gonna want to see!! (whole car) 😀

BTW, congrats on the purchase!! Nice car!

Back in the day my buddy had a '95 Si hatch and that sucker whooped!! Hard to beat for the price!!

yeah, and i'm not sure how letting the engine block warm up has anything to do with wear and tear on the manual transmission.

Nice car, I wanted one before I learned it took premium fuel.

I have an '07 Si sedan that I bought after selling my '06 LX sedan. The LX averaged 36mpg and my Si averages 30mpg so far.

For every 300 miles, I pay about $6.50 more to put premium in the Si over regular in the LX, so it's not as bad as it may seem...and those $6.50 are worth it for the fun that the Si provides.

Si averages that high? When I had my S2000, I was lucky to even get 20 mpg. Are you driving mostly highway or driving like a grandma?

I shift at 4k, VTEC maybe once or twice a day, and put it in 6th at 50mph if I'm sure I won't be going any slower for a few minutes. Most of my miles are on I95, but it's northern VA so there's lots of stop-and-go and 85mph sprints. My worst tank so far has been 29.5mpg and my best has been 30.5mpg...very consistent.
