true-- but i still rather use an external monitor w/ 2560x1600
Right, but if you are in the market for a new OEM, and want a big honking screen... the iMac 27 is a pretty fair deal. Especially if you consider that the standalone Dell 27" display with the same panel (and is matte, and apparently blurry due to the AG coating and high DPI) is ~$1000 and the cheapest 30" that I have seen is $1200 (maybe it is $1150, it is almost never in stock anyway).
And this is an IPS display, with an LED backlight.
So, if I was already willing to spend $1200 or so on a new 30" monitor to go with your new OEM system (this is assuming that you are in the market for both), why not get the 27" iMac for $1700?
On newegg, before I even got to the case/psu/OS/keyboard/mouse, I was at $1600 for a Core i3, MicroATX mobo, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 5670 GPU and 30" monitor.
So, yea, if a person (like me) was in the market for a non-gaming system, that can run OS X, in that price range, and with that size monitor... I wouldn't think twice about the iMac, except to decide if I wanted the Corei3 or the Core i5.
It is one of the more competitively priced Macs there are.
