Like the title says...just got a Mazda6 S Touring edition. I love it, coming from an older car, its suprising that everything works the way it should, the steering is tight, suspension rocks, and it has awesome pickup.

Requisite pics

Plus I posted in the right forum to begin with! :)

Nice car. I'm looking for a similar car that is economical to replace my aging 240sx. I wanted to get a magnum but that kind of guzzles.
I'll either get a Subaru or a Mazda6 wagon.

You'd be suprised how roomy the Mazda6 hatchback is with the seats folded down! it has like 60 cubic feet of space!

I'm poking around the idea of a 6 wagon myself. I like a little fun with my function. Looks like a great choice.

My mom has an 05 Mazda6 5door and it's a good car. Has decent power for what it is but I don't like how light the steering feels, especially at high speeds but hell it's not my car it's my mom's. The butt-warmers are pretty cool and the Bose sound system it has in it sounds pretty good. It's a good, well put together car and it looks good too. My mom went from a 95 Civic Sedan to this car so it's a night and day difference to her.

Thanks! Its nice to have personal insight to the build of the car.

nice car though :D

It is kind of a weaker V6, but whatcha gonna do :D

Compared to a Honda or Nissan, yeah. Though I think most other cars don't come with a sports tuned suspension, light weight alloy sports tires, and a high-torque 6 gear standard. Not to mention the MSRP is about 3-8k cheaper.

I would of loved a Honda if they didn't look like today's bastketball shoes.

You basically summed up my decision on why I got the Mazda6. Less horsepower, but it knows how to use it better. The handling is amazing! Yes it is an automatic, but its very sporty and it really "knows" when to shift...I can get going easily. Plus there's the Manual mode which rocks.

Okay. I went to the alameda county auction today and bought the older 4 cylinder for $14,441 including all taxes, dmv fees etc. Nice car, though its a bit underpowered, it'll work just fine for me since its going to be primarily my fishing car. I already have a G35 to satisfy my performance needs.
Here's the link to the car.

congrats
i have an 05 6s 5 door, and i love it, been running strong since the beginning
yeah, as everyone else has said, it doesn't have as much power as other cars in its class, but imo it looks the best, and handles well, i've had a lot of fun in my car :p

The redesigned 6 coming out in '08 or '09 will have a more powerful 3.5L V6 from what I've seen...

As long as they don't screw other stuff up, it should be a nice upgrade over the 3.0L...

Thanks for the forum link! I was just thinking about trying to see if there were any good forums out there for Mazda's.

I drove the MS6 as well and loved it, very peppy! But I didn't get it for two reasons, one it requires premium gas, and two I don't have the money to pay for all the speeding tickets I'm sure to get with the MS6! :D;) Another thing that stuck me funny wast that the MS6'd back seats didnt seem to fold down and it had a smaller trunk (reason why I got the 5 door vs the 4 door).

one thing i do like, the all in one headlight/signal's. makes it alot easier to replace the lamps when you need to. i can imagine how roomy that thing is, my dad had a 85 Mazda 323 1.5i standard, and that thing had some fairly good room, Mazda knows how to make use all possible space for the interior from what I've seen. i wonder how it sounds? sound pretty good?

ahh gotta love the sunroof, those are awesome, i love mine too. what red car was that in the background it looks like an old Toyota/Mazda from the 80's. looks alright, have fun with it, just don't do anything....how to say.....not smart with it. the engine should last you a very long time if you keep up with regular maintenance.

Just a little secret on the Speed 6. Officially, the rear seats don't fold down. Unofficially, they do. They put lots of bracing on the car over a "normal", American made 6, and two of those braces are behind the rear seats. For this reason they decided to say the seats don't fold down. However, if you remove the piece in the back of the trunk, the mechanism for putting the seats down is there..they just didn't connect it to external handles to make the seats drop. Several people have customized solutions to make the seats come down.

Heh....I knew I should have gotten the MS6! But it seems like manual transmissions are on the way out :( I am having a pain trying to sell my old car with a manual.

Nah...you made a good choice. All that matters is you are happy... :)

As for manual, I don't think you can say it's "on the way out", but it is true most want automatic...why...I have no idea. I've never had an automatic, and never will. Certain cars, especially sport cars, should only come with standards IMO. Would you want a Ferrari or Porsche with a automatic?

Manuals are just so much more fun, and even today their fuel consumption is almost always better than the auto option :D
