just got a lite on ltr 52327s, wont burn cd's

hey i just got a new lite on burner, but it wont burn cd's! ive tried nero and easy cd creator, and both programs do not recognize the cd rom as a burner. windows also just thinks its a normal cd rom drive (win 2k). according to lite on's website, the driver to use is the default windows driver, dated 8/6/2k3 but the driver my comp is automatically using is dated '99. ive run live update, but it doesnt download any updated drivers. what should i do? is there anywhere where i can manually download the inf files? could it also be a problem w/ the IDE controller? thanx
