Just got a kitten

Pic - my roommates and I thought we should get a pet so we stumbled upon a classified listing for this fella. We picked him up today and he's already picking fights with all of us. He's a cute, spunky, and hyper little guy.

I'm not complaining, he's only 3 1/2 months old - but any advice on how to make him less bite-y and scratch happy?

I know that Veggz has a pretty hardcore training program for kittens. He could probably squash that biting and scratching habit in no time.

Prepare for piss on your flour. De-nutting stresses them out and they punish your carpet.

ROFL! I didn't catch that at first, but when you wrote that reply I remembered that Veggz was the OP of that thread.

Why not? bag of flour seems as good a place as any.

Make sure he knows where the litter box is, maybe give him a treat after he uses it, to reinforce using it is a good thing. But this shouldn't be a big thing anyway; it's instinctual to bury their fecal matter, so he should be more likely to use that then piss on the floor like one other poster said. Make sure you use the teaser (aka the wand - has a piece of rope with a toy on the end. I prefer a soft toy instead of one with the feathers at the), it'll help tire him out. If you pet him and he does the thing where he bites you and kicks with his rear feet, push in instead of pulling out; that'll confusre him since you're not "running away" like prey.
