Damn dude if you arent joking may I ask you why you just dont save some of that and buy online where some sites dont charge you tax. Tax on 10 grand and up is rediculous.

As for the thread starter, good luck man. I work at circuit city myself in the computer department. I make 9.50 an hour there, but I would love to make 8 bucks an hour plus commision. They are building a comp usa right across the street from my store so I think when its finished I will apply there.

Ha! CompUSA, the store to have a worse reputation on this site than my employer (Best Buy). Working on commission sucks though, when I was with Gateway I hated it. I'll take my $25 an hour.

I did apply at Circuit City as well in the area, they just weren't hiring at the time.

Unless you're a top manager, you don't.

hardware sales aka TSS. Well thats what they called it at comp no more than a year ago. I worked at CompUSA for 5 years of my life. TSS's are based off of straight comission which if you're good at sales you can make decent money but if your not....well you get the idea. To give you an idea what you are going to be required to do ill give you the following information. Get to know every single service they offer in that store...the replacement plan, the extended warranties they offer on the PC's they sell (thats where most of your income is going to come from). If i remember correctly sales get 1% commisions on sales but a based amount on the computer warranties. I think its comes out to be about 10 percent. $300 service plan gets you $30 and so forth. They may have done away with that and made it straight 1percent for everything though (they were talking about doing that as i left). And just like any other sales job you will have numbers that you have to meet and one thing they shove down your throat constantly is how much TAP (technology assurance plan) you sell. That is basically how many extended warranties you sold. For me it got old very quickly and I left the sales floor after a year and went to the tech shop but you might very well like it. Just hope you have a really cool TSS manager and supervisor other wise it can really get old really quick.

As far as the discount you get its actually pretty decent. You will get everything at their supposive cost. Cables and such you will see a big discount in. Hardware such as PC's you'll save at most $200. Even when i worked there i would by most of my hardware from newegg.com or some other online store.

Well If you want to know more you can always PM me and ill tell you anything you want to know.

^ Bingo. I think you guys sometimes underestimate retail payscales. My manager makes $65k and our Gm clears $110k.
