how do you get the thermal control to work? Its always on high, and i can't find any settings to control it. there is nothing in the nview menu, and i installed nvidia's latest drivers hoping they put the controls in there and there are still no options for thermal control

its driving me crazy its the loudest fan in my case.

someone help me please.

Is it the one with the Zalman Cooler?

This One?

The Zalman Cooler is supposed to be quiet, even on high.

Have you checked if there is a speed control switch on the fan itself?

yes its the one with the zalman cooler that comes pre-installed

yeah i've tried rivatuner and it does nothing.

i thought the fan noise was my psu fan, but i opened my case and put my ear up to each fan (at least tried to) and the fan noise is definetly coming from the zalman fan, its not super loud, but its anoying, and in the nvidia control panel it says the gpu is 39C which is fairly cool. I'm thinking about buying a fan speed conroller and just adjusting the fan myself if i can't find a way to control the fan speed via software, its really anoying (then again i have very quiet office)

anyone else know why the nvidia drivers are not controlling the fan speed?

If it's a custom fan, then it may have a custom BIOS controlling the fan speed, hence why NVidia control panel doesn't work.

Can confirm. I can "set" fan speed via nvtweak and rivatuner graph show changes in fan speed, but sound level same, temperature same and by touch fan speed seems same. And it's louder than all other my fans.

Are you sure its not your psu fan? I recently got a 7900GS as well (albeit its an eVGA) and replaced my X800 XL with it. The first thing I noticed was how loud it was. I tried everything via software I could and nothing helped. I eventually just opened up my case and physically stopped the fan on the GPU (probably not the best thing for it, but oh well), and to my surprise the noise was still there. I then narrowed it down to my PSU, I'm guessing the extra power requirements sent the fan on it into a higher rpm.

But if your sure thats not the case, perhaps try your luck with tech support?
