MS gave away VB.NET for free, you just had to watch some online training videos.

... for $9. It's pretty sweet that my school is hooked up with Microsoft and since I'm majoring in a computer field I get access to it. I could have downloaded it for free, but having the actual CD is pretty nice. So now I have two WinXP product keys (they gave me a different one for the one I downloaded too).
Also got VB.Net sent to me for $15. Basically just paying for the CDs and shipping.

I got it for $0 with MSDN Academic Alliance <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
All of this is completely free too for CS majors at my school:
Windows Server 2003
Visual Studio.net 2003 Pro
Visual Studio 6
Visio Pro 2003
Project Pro 2003
SQL Server 2000 Dev
Access 2003
And some other/older versions of some of that stuff.
I thought this was a scam when I first saw the email, heh.
