Just got this soundcard , installed latest drivers from viaarena and my sound is working great
but i cant get my mic to work, i tried a million things already. Mic is plugged in and its not muted.

help plz!! thanks

I just got an AV-710 as well.

I can't seem to get VIA's new drivers/control panel to work from viaarena. It's just a black screen, and the setup.exe says there is a missing DLL -___-. The CD packaged with the soundcard didnt even come with the Audio Deck/Control Center. I had to DL that seperately from Chaintech, and it's the old ghetto version with Sensura 3D instead of QSound.

Also, I can't seem to change the SPDIF re-sample rate. The only thing on the SPDIF page is a checkbox for "enable" S/PIDF. Lame ; (. Looks like I'm stuck with 48KHz resampling until some new driver/control panel comes out that works : (

New drivers sound pretty messed up. Sorry to hear that 🙁

I too didn't use the mic with mine so I don't know what to tell you, threats.

The new drivers are crap, especially for HT-S owners. Do a search and see if you can find a site still hosting the 4.51c drivers.

Unfortunately, I think the 48KHz resampling is a hardware problem. That's what I think I've read on the avsforum. I'm just using it right now till I can afford to replace it with an X-mystique.

What's so special about the 4.51c version?

Well the newest VIA vynl control panel has a setting that lets you choose the S/PDIF output frequency, or set it to "auto detect." Apparently if you select autodetect, KMixer gets bypassed and the right (aka 44.1KHz for music) will get outputted.

Unfortunately, the new driver pack seems to be screwd up, because the VIA drivers just crash and prompt me for a missing DLL file on setup.exe.

Edit:

I managed to get 5.12 (the version on the website) working. Apparently I had the proper DLL, but it said it couldn't find it (file name in ALL CAPS). I renamed the file in all caps and it worked. Now THAT's retarded.

Anyway, I have it set on auto-detect. It seems to actively switch from 44.1KHz sources (mp3s) to 48KHz sources (video), at least according to the monitor.

I have no way of actually telling if its really bypassing KMixer since I can't tell the difference between AC3 (48KHz) and PCM (auto 44.1/48) modes, unless I download some DTS wave files, but I'm a little bit lazy. So I'll read, wait and see if any other people mention any issues.

Interesting, I downloaded one about 2 weeks ago, that didn't have the "auto detect" in the CP. It only had 48KHz options. I guess there's a newer one... what's the build/release date on your 5.12 drivers?
