Hey guys, got my cable connection today and it is damn fast compared to a 56K modem. :) However, I have placed two NICS in the main computer (which the cable modem is run from). I have the cat5 from the cable modem attached directly to the 1st NIC, the second NIC is connected to the hub which is crossed over (X) at this time. The second computer's cat 5 is in another port on the hub. This setup worked fine for my dialup so what the heck is going on here? Am I miising something? PLEASE HELP, by the way, using WinXP.

Better idea...

Pickup a Linksys router, run the Cbl modem into it and connect the two PCs to the router. You can setup the linksys to spoof the MAC address of whichever PC the cable company set you up on, or if they use Computer Name/Domain to authenticate, just enter that info into the linksys.

simple setup + built in firewall.
