The first is a Dell Dimension 4400, P4 1.8, 512mb Ram, and the other is a Gateway P4 1.8 with 512mb RDRAM. I already have a file server (P3 800) and I have a GeeXboX (Media Center)........just wondering if there's something cool I can turn these in to......any ideas? I've heard of Monowall and IPcop but not really sure what those do.....

Mmm...Might not be everyone's look at 'cool' but their are many charities to donate old computers to people who can't afford one, or for charities in developing countries that can't afford a computer (Yep...Pen and pad...)

Unfortunetly i can't name any and i could get something from google but that'd just be a google search, so i can't name any particular good ones.

Dang I wish I got free computers like that. Hmm, I'll take them off your hands though and put them to work crunching data for folding @ home :) Or, at least the dell if you don't want to part with both ;)

lol just kidding (sorta) they are yours, do with them what you want :) And tell me how you got them for free cuz if it is something repeatable I'd like to find out so I can get some to do folding :D (I can't afford to buy parts really)

You could use one as a dedicated firewall, but don't ask me how to set it up because I have no idea.

I don't really want to sell them because It'd be a PITA, these cases are very heavy!!! Especially the Dell clamshell!

Just make sure if it goes to charity nobody in Nigeria gets it :)

The FST/FT forum here is definitely good, I'd second it. See if anyone in your area is another board member to avoid shipping, those computers are not so old that they'd be useless to some people here.

I'd suggest Craigslist if you want to sell it without any shipping headaches (they'll come pick it up AND pay you, best of both worlds) or, if you're feeling particularly altruistic, you could definitely donate it (One example is the Youth For Technology association)

Well, you have been given some really good ideas already. What you Should do (give them to a charity) and Will do (more than likely keep them) appear to be two different things.....

Keep one around as a backup as a loaner for your customers or in case your main PC is down.
