Late I know, but installed 2.3 Gingerbread on my Droid 2. I like everything about it except for the dock that stays static on every screen.

Used to look:

Now:

(See the four icons on bottom of screen?)

How do I get rid of the dock icons, or how do I go back (if possible) to before?

from what i understand, stock launchers have always been unconfigurable. Not sure for the droid 2 but I think it's probably the same thing. Your best bet to get your original look is to install launcher pro off the market and customize the icons to your preference. ADW launcher can do similar but it's not as customizeable as launcher pro.

You can use Launcher Pro to customize the dock by not having anything there, and still have it perform a swipe to open your app drawer, among other things.

Yes, That is part of the launcher. You cannot remove the icons.

You will need something like Launcher Pro or ADWex Launchers to customize the bottom icons.

To eliminate the dock entirely, so that you're left with an evenly spaced grid over the entire screen for your shortcuts, install ADW or ADW EX and select 'Expand Desktop'. Trying to do the same using Launcher Pro won't work as you can't use the space that the dock takes up. You can only make it non-visible.

You can set a swipe gesture to open the app drawer in ADW if you'd prefer not to have a shorcut for this this somewhere on your screen.

i took the mail icon off and replaced it with the camera app. the three you had before are still there, and adding the camera to the bar freed up a grid spot on the home screen. why would you want to go back to the three unchangeable icons in froyo? i think this is one of the better changes to the UI. profiles is cool too.
