Strangely, I was waiting for these, and checked the site before they were posted. Thanks for the heads up!

Download link:
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

edit:
A note to Folding@Home users: the GPU2 client, versions b3 and b5, will not work with these drivers. An updated client will be out soon.

Nice, can't wait to try out those huge gains in Stalker. Will try these when I get home. I like the idea for the Uninstaller aswell, that was needed.

Amazing. According to the release notes adaptive AA is now supported OpenGL!

Can someone test it out and report back?

Uninstall previous drivers properly and use Driversweeper.

I won't have my WC rig up anytime soon so it'll be a little longer till I can test these :( - has anyone tried Adapative AA in OpenGL?

Insatalled fine, and dont have any issues. Just like always.

As the above poster said, make sure you install them properly. Dont expect to install over top of drivers time and time again, and have no problems. (not saying you do, just an example)

i was unawares. i knew that when switching brands, cleaning out old drivers is a must. i was mistakenly thinking that just upgrading drivers for the same card would not require this.

ill give it a go after the weekend and see what happens.

The new drivers also have overscan enabled by default if an HDTV is detected. It took me a while to figure out why my 1360x768 resolution was only taking up 85% of my screen.

I apologize for using CS1.6 for the screenshots but its the only openGL game I have installed right now

8xMSAA + edge detect is on in both shots

AAA off
AAA on

Looks like it works :)

Used Driver cleaner pro to uninstall all my driver registries and then installed 8.5. Hopefully this will correct my problem of Windows Media Center freezing up my PC, after occaisionaly running it for a bit, while watching TV through my ATI 550 tuner card.

We will see

schneiderguy: nice, but are you 100% sure that game is running under OpenGL?

Do you have any Quake 3 or Doom 3 engine game you could use as confirmation?

IIRC you can choose to run old skool CS under OpenGl...

yup, openGL is selected as the renderer in the game options. Half-life 1 games run off of a modified quake2 engine I believe.

I'm downloading the quake4 demo right now so I'll report back with screenshots from that also :)

Here's the Q4 demo.

AAA off
AAA on

So it also works in Quake4 (and presumably all other doom3 engine games). It was weird, when I started up the game with AAA on, for the first few seconds it looked like it was turning itself on and off - the texture would go smooth, then jagged, then smooth again in around half second intervals  It stopped doing it though, and I can't seem to reproduce the problem.:confused:

edit: 8xMSAA + edge detect is on in both of those shots again. The differences in lighting are caused by the lightning or something flashing outside

i used driver cleaner pro and had the same issue.

i reformatted and reinstalled windows and updated my mobo bios to the latest as well, from F2 to F3. same thing. if i install the cat 5's upon restart after the windows loading screen shows up, it goes to NO SIGNAL

ugh.

i should have stuck with nvidia.

I never have problems installing ATI drivers, they always work perfectly. Getting them to work under Linux is hit or miss though.

wow after writing the above and realizing the one thing i hadnt tried was actually fiddlin with the hardware outputs - i went to my tv where i have an hdmi out going to, swithced to that hdmi input, and lo and behold, i could see my pc screen

swapped the dvi out to my monitor with the dvi-hdmi out and now i can see the pc screen on my damn monitor.

oi vay.
