Here's the story....for the past couple of weeks when I have gone to work in the morning there has been a van parked across the street in my neighbors yard. It's looks like a work van and so I had assumed it was just that. Well one of my neighbors came over tonight and was asking me if I had hired them to do some work for me. I asked her what she was talking about and she told me that after I left this morning they backed into my driveway, got out, and went around the side of my house. She said that when she backed out of her garage they ran back to the van, jumped in, and got the hell out of the neighborhood. This is all very suspicious so we call the police to let them know about what has been going on, an officer comes out and talks to us and tells us that there have been some recent burglaries in the area and they could be moving our way. Now I live in what most consider an upper class neighborhood and I can't ever remember a break in here and I've lived in the area, my parents live a couple of blocks over, since I was 11(I'm 32 now). Anyway I'm planning on faking going to work in the morning and then returning to my house. I live on a hill above a lake and I'm going to leave, drive the few blocks down the hill to the lake, park, and then walk back to my house and come in the back door. Hopefully the morons won't be back, but if they are and they do decide to come in the house I will introduce them to my friend Smith & Wesson model 915 and it's little hollow point friends. I told the officer that and he reminded me to make sure they were in the house before I called them to report the shooting. Kind of a "They're coming right for us!" tactic.

why dont you call the cops, tell them the story-- say there are some suspecious people outside your house-- see if the cops can at least come do a drive by-- see if that scares them off

My house was burglarized in broad daylight, in an "upper class" neighborhood just like yours... Got away with over 7k in stereo, computers, DVD, and TV. Do not underestimate burglars.

Dude, you said 'van casing my house' and all I could think of was Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern sittin' in a van with Kevin home alone! Wet Bandits!!! Classic...

I have......"This is all very suspicious so we call the police to let them know about what has been going on, an officer comes out and talks to us and tells us that there have been some recent burglaries in the area and they could be moving our way. "

Be careful, for all you know they could be armed as well.

The last thing you need is a firefight in your living room.

Don't have a pic of my 915.... Here is a pic of a model 910 which is essentially the same thing. Only difference is that a 915 has a 15 round clip and is no longer made. Thank you Brady Bill!!! :|

Wouldn't be the first time I've run across armed burglars..... My parents own a bunch of land, a ranch really just no horses or cattle, and one day Dad and I were going down there to do some brush hogging and to site in the new scopes we had bought for our deer rifles. We pull up and there are a group of guys robbing the house and barn on the land. Luckily we managed to sneak up on them and draw first. They were armed but didn't put up much resistance when they saw us standing there with pistols pointed at their heads and rifles on our shoulder. I had my cell phone on me and we called the sheriff's dept. An hour later they finally show up and arrest the morons. There were a few times they started to act like they wanted to rush us but after one of them told my Dad "You don't have the guts to shoot me old man" and my Dad put a round between his legs they decided they should probably just sit down and shut up.

Plus you can read a brief synopsis of my run in with a drug dealer in this thread It's about 3/4 of the way down the page and doesn't have a lot to do with the thread topic though.

shinerburke: Coming from the same city as you, I can honestly say location matters not. I live in a nice area in Maple Ridge and my neighbor across the street was robbed. A month or so ago my car was broken into as well. I used to live further south, and a townhome was burglarized right across from me. A car was burglarized in the same area a few weeks before that. Even worse, I ran off some suspicious characters who were casing a few townhomes in the same place.

These are all nice places with nice people. I think these losers think they can get away with something quick in a nicer, "trusting" neighborhood.... show them otherwise :)

I actually live outside Tulsa now in a suburb, Sand Springs. I used to live in a Townhouse not far from you off of Riverside Drive. Had some crack whore try to get in my place one night and ended up having to run her off with a baseball bat. The place across from me was broken into one night but I never really got messed with. Probably because when I left in the mornings I usually didn't have my jacket on yet and my shoulder holster was plainly visible. That and the fact that I was known to answer the door with my pistol in hand if it was after midnight. Gotta love Oklahoma's concealed carry law.

Step in front of their vehicle and unload your 9mm into the windshield.
Nah.....if they do come back I will make sure they do something worthy of being identified by their teeth before I open fire.

We've had people doing similar stuff at our place the last month. Several suspicous people have come to the door posing as salespeople or volunteers for fake organizations and a few more have been in the yard at odd hours. There have been several armed "home invasions" close by in the past year or so, so I hope it's not those freaks.

German sheperds are my favorite dogs, but I doubt they can handle a double barrel shotgun. Hope you have a good home security system Shinerburke, won't stop the burglar but might give you some extra time to greet and give them what they deserve.

I'll never forget the time I killed eight out of the eleven people at my surprise birthday party.
