I overheard a saddening diatribe today on one of the Christian TV channels that my parents watch- in short, Perry Stone(nutjob) asserted that there was a connection between the number of seeds found in a pomegranate and the number of commands God gave in the Old Testament.
Sigh.
Please, please don't make the mistake of thinking we're all that hopeless. Really, some if not most of us are reasonable people. We don't(or at least shouldn't) claim to know everything, and I'm really genuinely sorry that there are people like Perry Stone running around making a bad name for Christians. Same for that church out there with "God hates fags" signs, whatever that guy's name is on the 700 club, and pretty much every Christian featured in the media. The truth of the matter is that many Christians are far too trusting and will believe whatever someone says if they say it in the name of God or good faith. A lot of the time, that means buying tapes and books and crap off of TV from televangelists who figured out that a lot of Christians are gullible.
Just because a lot of Christians will believe anything they hear doesn't mean we're all that way, and it doesn't mean that we all have blind, unsupported faith.
I can understand that you don't share our beliefs and many of you can't see the reason for our faith- but please don't judge us all by the poor examples of dumb Christians that get too much attention.
