A classic reappeared on the big screen in 3D. That sounds freaking amazing! Compared to the other 3D movies I've seen, this one should be breathtaking.
I wondered how they were gonna make it 3D. And I somehow knew they weren't gonna be able to do it unless they refilmed the whole picture from scratch. But that doesn't sound feasible. And I was right, it isn't fully 3D, but they did add extra depth to the picture, although very annoying.
Basically, they took 2D images and created depth between them. So while the characters don't have any depth, they do appear to pop off the background, but not off the screen. In fact, nothing pops off the screen. It was very distracting for me, the struggle my mind had, looking at a 2D picture, which is almost 3D, but it isn't and going back and forth. I found it distracting throughout the movie, wanting more consistency out of the Hybrid Dimensions.
There is nothing breathtaking about it. You might as well watch it on DVD if you have it. Unless you're intrigued by the bigger screen, stay home.
